Recent Days....

Here are some pictures of what we've been up to lately....
Braden just LOVES his Gym Jam class at the local community center. We go one morning per week while Ryan is at preschool. Braden's favorite sport is basketball. While the teacher sets up, he dribbles and plays a very serious game by himself.
They practice hokey skills...
have relay races, run laps around the gym, play soccer, play with scooters, parachutes, and more...His other favorite activity is when I roll this hula-hoop across the gym. He laughs the whole time he chases it.
Dad and Ryan celebrated their birthdays together this year....
One of the things Ryan asked for was roller skates....which brought lots of smiles!
Movie night with popcorn....
Our first apple picking trip....
I let the boys gather all the apples....
Both boys helped make applesauce and apple pie...
Our Friday Play-and-Learn group had a private tour of the fire station. The kids loved getting up close to the trucks and even climbing inside...
Our group (minus a few)....
Ryan requested a trip to the zoo for his birthday. We were originally going to go the day after his birthday but Tony had an emergency trip to Guatemala for a funeral. Instead, we went last weekend as a family + Nana:
This was just a poster but I thought the picture looks neat :-)
Ryan wanted to see the Orangutans (which performed for us during lunch) and Braden wanted to see the Donkeys (of course!).
Ryan has had a great first couple weeks of school. There is a huge difference between the 3 year old and 4 year old program at his school and he is loving it! He is very interested in not only what words begin with but what they end with...and generally how they are spelled. I spend much time of every day answering questions about how to spell the random words that pop into his head. He is getting really good at sounding the words out and letting me know how they begin and end. He has been having a great time in soccer this year and thinks his coach is the best thing - EVER! He talks about "coach" all week long!
Braden has grown up and changed so much in just the last few weeks. We had a first poo-poo on the potty (yay!) and he randomly tells me when he has to go to the bathroom. We are down to 2 (sometimes 3) diapers per day...which probably means he is ready to get potty trained sometime soon. While I'm ready to give up diapers, I know the first couple weeks will be a lot of work as he already tells me at "inconvenient" times that he has to go pee-pee (like in the car or at the doctor's office when I'm getting blood drawn, etc.). Braden's imagination has really developed and he has been heard creating conversations between his toys. He also contributes to conversations if I forget details in stories. I think he has finally picked out a cake for his upcoming birthday...one with a train and a tunnel. If we could somehow incorporate a guitar and a donkey, it would probably be ideal for him as he plays his guitar all day long and asks for a "donkey in a barn please" at least 3 times per day!
We've started to prepare for Baby Boy #3, which, for the most part, means switching beds around, selecting and buying furniture, and redecorating the guest bedroom into a "big boy" room for B. Ryan is pretty excited about his bed upgrade; he's hoping the Queen bed will be big enough for all the things that he sleeps with so that they don't fall out. We hope to make a lot of progress in the Bedroom Switch Department this weekend!
